"La Palabre #1" Cutting Fruits DECOLONIZING FOOD, MEMORY, AND THE CHANGING CITYSCAPE

This was an evening on decolonial theory and practice with Isabel Raabe, Kavita Meelu, Celina Baljeet Basra, Daeng Khamlao and Magnus Elias Rosengarten held on the 14th of July. For this POETIC INTERVENTION, I offered three homemade Vegan Hot Sauces and three Poems. The aim of mixing Sauces and Poems is to invoke the many memories of taste we carry within us.

Some of the questions I posed for the evening were as follows; Which memories can we/do we reinvigorate when we spend time in kitchens, cooking, and nurturing our communities and ourselves? What is a memory of taste and how do we access it in a safe way? Who does it benefit and who does it not? How is food making, sites of food making also sites and practices of knowledge production?
